PCOS & Me: A Love-Hate Relationship with My Own Body
Hey you, hormonal heroes!
Today we’re diving into something real, raw, and slightly ridiculous – my life with PCOS. Yep, it’s about that uninvited guest who showed up in my life, made herself cozy, and decided she ain’t leaving. Let’s talk about what I deal with, what I don’t, and all the little surprises PCOS throws at me like it’s playing dodgeball with my life. So here it comes…
Life Before PCOS: Eat. Slay. Repeat
Once upon a time, in a land far away (aka my pre-PCOS era), I was living my best life. I wasn’t super skinny, but let’s just say my clothes were happy with me. I could eat whatever I wanted, biriyani at 2am? Sure. Fries for breakfast? Absolutely. No lower belly, no surprise mustache, no hair fall, no hyperpigmentation. Life was so smooth, I barely had to look in the mirror.
And maybe that’s where I messed up. I barely looked in the mirror and PCOS said, “Say less, girl. I got you.” 🙃
From Flat Tummy to Food Baby
Then came Kochi. New city, new job, new food (and oh boy, so much food). At first, everything seemed fine. I was still on good terms with my wardrobe. But slowly, sneakily… things changed. My favorite jeans were like, “Ma’am, we don’t serve your size anymore.” Still, I didn’t care much. Life was good. Roshan and I were in our lovebird era, eating everything in sight, blaming our weight gain on happy hormones.
Cut to a year later – I was a certified plus-size girl. My once-flat tummy now had a personality of its own. My “cute crop tops” became “maybe next time” tops. The worst betrayal? My own skin. Hello facial hair, goodbye clear face. Even my hair was like, “Girl, we’re out.”
The Mental Plot Twist
PCOS didn’t just mess with my body, it came for my mind too. Imagine looking at your favorite dress, the one you rocked like a queen, and realizing it now fits your thigh. That’s enough to make anyone question life. The worst was trying on Roshan’s oversized tee for that chill, effortless look… only to realize it fits perfectly. And not in a cute way.
Let’s not even talk about the mood swings. Everyone says PCOS girls have peak mood swings. But surprisingly, I’ve managed to keep it together. Maybe because I’m chill by default? Or maybe my back pain, leg pain, and emotional trauma are too busy holding hands and plotting against me, they forgot to add mood swings to the plan.
The Self-Love Comeback Era
Two years into this messy PCOS journey, I finally decided to stop crying over old pictures and do something. I started with what I could control, my meals. I became a home chef deluxe edition. I can now cook anything I crave, the healthy version of course. I cut sugar (except for those two glorious cheat days… we don’t talk about those), and guess what? I lost 2 kgs in 2 weeks. 🎉 Not a miracle, but definitely a start.
Workout? That’s the next enemy to conquer. My yoga mat is currently giving me passive-aggressive stares from the corner of my room. I might start gym on Monday because let’s be honest, Monday just feels more serious than “random Thursday.” It’s like the New Year of the week.
I’ve also got plans for a full glow-up package: skin, hair, and the whole shebang. Because this main character? She’s not done yet.
Final Thoughts: Still Cute, Just a Little Cursed
So yeah, PCOS turned my life into a dramedy. Some days I slay, some days I cry in oversized pajamas. But what matters is, I’m trying. I’m learning to love myself while fixing the mess PCOS made in my body. And even though the struggle is real, the glow-up is loading.
Moral of the story? If your lower belly suddenly has its own zip code, if your face is growing a beard faster than your boyfriend, or if your jeans betray you, it might be PCOS. Or it might just be life. Either way, grab a cup of green tea and hang in there, sis.
To everyone fighting invisible battles with their body and mind, you’re not alone, and you’re not done. The comeback is always stronger than the breakdown.💪
Till then, stay sassy, stay strong, and let’s slay together (even if we’re crying under our sheet masks).
With love & some hormonal chaos,
Sana ✨
