Mind Your Biz, Babe: My Weight, Hair, and No Apologies

Hey, this one goes out to everyone who’s been way too concerned about my weight gain and haircut lately. If you’re not one of them, feel free to skip this post or stay and enjoy the show because I’m about to clear the air once and for all.

Let’s get one thing straight: everyone is perfect in their own way. You don’t need other people’s opinions to decide what suits you or makes you look good. The only opinion that really matters is your own. If you look in the mirror and love what you see, then you’re doing just fine because that reflection is all yours and no one else lives in it but you.

Now, about my weight…

Yes, I’ve gained some weight. I know it, and you noticed it. Cool. But let me explain before you come at me with your judgments.

I eat what I like. I enjoy food. And on top of that, I have PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome), which causes hormonal imbalances and weight gain, among many other things. So no, I’m not being lazy or careless. I’m dealing with a real condition that affects both my health and my body.

I’m already making changes to my meals and taking care of myself. Trust me, I’m on it. But if you still can’t understand that PCOS plays a big role in this, then honestly, I don’t have the time or energy to convince you. My body, my journey. Not your problem.

Now let’s move on to the haircut…

Some of y’all are acting like I broke a sacred law by chopping my hair off. So let me set the record straight.

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve loved short hair. I’ve always been curious to try different styles and yes, at one point, I even wanted to shave my head just to see how it would feel. Don’t act like you’ve never thought about it.

I grew up in a family where people strongly believed that a woman’s hair is tied to her character or identity. But I never believed in that idea. I’ve seen myself with long hair for most of my life, and I simply wanted to see a different version of me. So I cut it. That’s it. No dramatic reason. Just curiosity and self-expression.

I got a haircut because I wanted to see how I looked in a new way. I got a haircut because I wanted something easier to handle. I got a haircut because my confidence was at its peak and I felt bold enough to do it. And I’ll get another one whenever I feel like it because I don’t need anyone’s permission to change how I look. It’s my hair. End of story.

And now… the most ridiculous part.

Someone close to me actually asked if I’m transgender or bisexual just because I cut my hair short. Seriously?

Let’s pause for a second and ask what kind of thinking is that? Since when does a haircut define someone’s gender or sexuality?

If a man wears lip balm or lipstick, that doesn’t automatically mean he’s gay or transgender. Maybe he just likes taking care of his lips and wants them to look good. If a woman wears pants or cuts her hair short, that doesn’t mean she’s bisexual or trying to be someone else. Maybe she just likes that style or maybe she’s just comfortable in it.

And even if someone is bisexual, transgender, gay, or whatever, that’s their story, not yours. You don’t get to question someone’s identity just because you don’t understand their choices. It’s 2025. Be kind. Be mature. And please stop making weird assumptions about people you don’t know well.

So yeah… I said what I had to say.

I hope things are clear now and that this answers your questions or at least shuts them down. I appreciate the time you took to care so much about how I look, but I’m doing just fine, thank you very much.

Try me again sometime. 😹
